Tome V of Leconte de Lisle’s Complete Works (the final one) is both a conclusion and a preface. A conclusion to the previous four, because it provides an indispensable prose companion (his “popular” pieces) to the works in verse, and a preface to his translations, which should also be regarded as masterpieces.
