Modern Catholicism doesn’t answer the question: how can man’s freedom and God’s grace be seen as working together toward salvation, without aggrandizing man’s actions or diminishing God’s? This essay points out a forgotten intuition: if Christ is both man and God, both may be seen as performing all of salvation.
