This collection of studies traces the evolution of the Pléiade poets’ “lexicon” between 1547 and 1555, at a time when the French language seemed to be experiencing a rebirth under the impetus of the first Artes Poeticae, of Du Bellay’s Defense and Illustration, and of Ronsard and the other members the group.
