This tome presents the first part of the earliest know version of the Chevalerie Ogier. In some 3000 epic verses, it traces the early years of Ogier, then Charlemagne’s hostage, who proves his worth at war against the Saracens, becomes the emperor’s vassal and is rewarded with a sword and a horse.
